HopeNest
HopeNest is a youth changemaking and social entrepreneurship program of the Move to Change Foundation. It empowers young people to design and implement innovative solutions that address the needs of their communities.
One of the program’s recent partners is Quezon, Isabela, where HopeNest trained 20 youth participants involved in their Sangguniang Kabataan (SK). As part of the program, the participants developed changemaking initiatives addressing community needs. Two groups from this cohort were awarded grants to further develop and implement their projects, providing them with resources to turn their ideas into sustained community action.
The program also houses the Changemaking Projects of M2C scholars. After completing their changemaking orientation, scholars are given the opportunity to turn their learning into action by proposing and implementing their own projects. Through these initiatives, they apply lessons from the learning circles to address real community needs, gain hands-on changemaking experience, and create meaningful impact within their communities and beyond.
Project SwipeSmart
Led by the Manila scholars, this project equips youth with essential voter and media literacy skills. The team conducted a social media campaign and partnered with youth and school organizations to help young people critically navigate information and develop a better understanding of informed voting.Beyond awareness-building, the project also mentors seminar participants in designing and implementing community-based initiatives that apply the knowledge and skills they have gained, encouraging active citizenship and meaningful community engagement.
Project Iskolusyon
Led by the Cebu Batch 1 scholars, this project promotes coastal restoration and environmental stewardship among students and youth groups in Cebu. The team partnered with local and educational organizations to conduct mangrove-planting activities in Barangay Inoburan, Naga, resulting in the planting of 350 mangrove seedlings.
Project LiHoK
Headed by the Cebu Batch 2 scholars, this project addresses reading literacy challenges among elementary learners in Cebu.
Project EcoStride
Led by Mindanao scholars, EcoStride is a changemaking initiative that envisions a UP Mindanao campus where proper waste segregation and disposal are the norm rather than the exception. The project promotes environmental awareness and action among young people through educational sessions on solid waste management, plogging activities to collect trash across the campus, campaigns on proper waste segregation and disposal, and the upcycling of recyclable materials.
